WELCOME TO SPOOKTOBER! i figured i ought to do a spooky project for october, so i landed on this. i’m not sure how exciting it will be to follow along, but i’m accepting suggestions for how to make it better WHAT WILL HAPPEN LET’S FIND OUT!
OCTOBER 1
okay, so i learned that ‘reading the directions’ is important. apparently, when you get to a hollow dot, you’re meant to pick up your writing implement and move to the next number in the sequence, which will also have a hollow dot, before continuing to connect-the-dots. this way, you won’t end up with bizarre lines cutting across your picture. oopsie!
OCTOBER 2
i dutifully picked up my pen at all the hollow dots, but there’s STILL a line cutting across it to no purpose. am i regretting this project already? i’m not even sure what is happening here. is that a tree branch in the upper-right corner? what is this posture meant to convey? is he carrying a sack or fixing his hair? where are his feet? why is he in a graveyard? shouldn’t he be playing basketball? what the what?
OCTOBER 3
there are at least three things i cannot identify in this dot-to-dot image, and i’m too tired to think too much about it. maybe i will think about it tomorrow.

i have never been more confused.

me, i am haunted by my decision to do this project. this is the real nightmare!

psssst, does this ‘horror’ cover know that it’s actually adorable?

another one where all i can see are boobs. are those giant circles meant to be her nipples? if so, i can understand why that monster is carrying her off—one hopes to the doctor. however, having read not ONE, but TWO lake/pond humanoid creature monsteroticas (and not ONE, but TWO decidedly UNhumanoid ones), i’m pretty sure he has a different destination in mind.

which is worse: my tilt-a-whirl ‘before’ photo, or…whatever tomfoolery this completed dot-to-dot is depicting?

i take it back—THIS is my tiltiest ‘before’ photo, and yet it became one of the clearest finished products thus far. life’s a hoot, innit?

this is a terrible mini-golf course. ALSO, if you know of any mini-golf-based horror media, let me know because now i’m interested in this thing i made up.

i have gotten two hours of sleep in the past two days, so this is just like looking in the mirror, unfortunately…

i’m pretty sure i messed up a thing here, causing an errant line to cut into this otherwise perfect image. but i’m blaming the oftentimes confusing number-placement that looks like a traffic jam for math.

spoke too soon! this one’s a mess, although i do not think the fault is mine alone.

oh, i do love how all the boobs in these pictures look as though they were drawn by children.

now’s as good a time as any to break the news that there are only THIRTY pages in this book, so there won’t be a spooky-dot monster on HALLOWEEN unless you BRING YOUR OWN!

i am too ill to properly caption this gem of a cover—all of my first-batch impulses have been way too dark. please supply me with light-hearted, flea-searching laffs. dots complete, i go back to bed now…

i’m just gonna go ahead and end this tomorrow, on halloweeeeeeeen. it doesn’t feel right ending it on the 30th. so today’s like a snow day for me!
OCTOBER 31
because i went out of my way to find images of all of these finished covers (see below), i know that the caption not included on this janky dot-to-dot replication reads: Jealousy and hate in GHOST WITH A TORCH!!
but i can see no torch, even in the full-color/not-dot version. is the torch itself a ghost? a spooooooky invisible torch? i don’t know what to make of this and i’m on a colossal sugar high so that’s all you get outta me right now. back to my sandwich of a nestle’s crunch beTWIXt two peanut butter cups. ‘cuz i’m grown.
