reviews

here is where you will find reviews i have written for books i have read, with a little caveat in case this is your first time: i will read everything from picture books to monsterporn, and if someone published a picture book about monsterporn, i would read that, too. i’m an adult, so there may be some adult situations and cussin’, but i have the sense of humor of a 10-year-old playground boy, so there may be some poop jokes and cussin’. for the most part, though – it’s a very thoughtful pursuit – i write reviews to help me process my own reading experiences and to fulfill my readers’ advisory calling; to help other readers discover books they may enjoy. i fully believe in the whole “every reader their book/every book its reader” idea, and i try to think outside my own preferences in order to be a better helper monkey to other readers. i don’t find snark particularly helpful, and i try to stay classy, but we all have bad days and unintentional insensitivities. i’m perfectly willing to engage in mutually respectful discussions about pretty much anything, but courtesy is real important to me, so let’s all play nice, nerds!

this feels gauche, but when i announced i was starting a blog, everyone assured me this is a thing that is done. i’m not on facebook, i’ve never had a cellphone or listened to a podcast; so many common experiences of modern life are foreign to me, but i’m certainly struggling financially, so if this is how the world works now, i’d be foolish to pass it up. any support will be received with equal parts gratitude and bewilderment.
