The Walk by Dennis Etchison

this one: meh
i didn’t love it, didn’t hate it, not really sure i completely understood it.
i mean, the words make sense, but i am in agreement with the first comment underneath this story on the tor site:
View Spoiler »there is a decent sense of pacing and tone, but i do not understand the characters’ reactions, and it reads a little stiff and muddy, like when horror tries to inspire fear by talking around the situation so you fill in the gaps with your own personal demons and that strategy just never works for me.
so, not my favorite tor short.
