ghost boy, zombie bird, nighttime fingers, and yet the biggest hauntings here are regret and self-recrimination. not a scary story, but a good one; about the slippery ways of grief and the slow shedding of burdensome guilt as a woman mourns her mother along an unexpected path to healing, involving the companionship of entities both living and variously dead.
and of course there’s a cat, silly.
