Misery and Death and Everything Depressing by C.V. Hunt
My rating: 4/5 cats
another drawing-review, but not a drunken-drawing review this time. (although the end results are pretty much the same)
i am desperately trying to get caught up on my reviews this week – there’s a stack of books here on my windowsill with their pages turning yellow from the direct sunlight – some having been sitting there for over a year waiting for me to get to them. i suppose i could just not review them, but that would only add to my already very well-developed sense of personal failure, which is not what i need right now.
so because i am having a sad week, and i can’t seem to focus or make words work, and since i always struggle with reviews for short story collections, i thought i would review this book through the therapeutic art of drawing.
therefore – here are some of the images you can expect to encounter if you decide to read this book that is definitely not recommended for people with delicate sensibilities. and why, no, i did NOT go to art school. this is all raw natural talent, unshaped by the prejudices of education or even a passing familiarity with perspective or form. or how fingers work.
here are the seven stories in this collection:
TO SAY MOTHER TERESA WAS SHOCKED WHEN SHE WOKE UP IN HELL WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT
LAST WOMAN ON EARTH
THE QUARRY
NO ROOM FOR A CHILD
BABY HATER
HUMAN CONTACT
THE LAST ENTRY
ta-DAAA!
