I Know Sasquatch by Jess Bradley
My rating: 4/5 cats
for those of you thinking this is one of those…other kinds of books i sometimes read with monsters in them, don’t shoo your kids out the room just yet! this is not that kind of “knowing” and not that kind of sasquatch!!
this is a book for those kids you were about to send to bed, and it’s made up of adorable drawings on top of photographs like so:
the story is not super-involved—it is about a girl who meets sasquatch in the woods one day and learns that sasquatch is actually just like us!
he has friends, some of whom are animals:
and some of whom are cryptids:
and he likes watermelon and making decorative eggs and hates wafer-thin ham and markers with the cap left off.
which is all very reasonable!
but what he hates most of all?
so, yes—this is a perfectly safe book to read with your children although now that i’m thinking about it, it does teach kids to not fear sasquatch, which is essentially just paving the way for the kind of relationships found in those…other books i sometimes read.
which is pretty sneaky propaganda…
and why yes, thank you for asking – i DO know sasquatch and we DO have a little half-squatch baby together. this love is not wrong.
NOW you can send your kids to bed.
