I’m not afraid of the dark – the dark is afraid of me! Dark heard I was coming and ran!

it’s shark week – for babies!

i got this book out of the library for shark week 2015. and when you take children’s books out of the library, sometimes children have already gotten their sticky little hands on them, so you end up with stuff like this

which is just cruel. a shark’s mouth is no place for a puppy to romp.

he has been eated up!

the artwork in this is typical bob shea-adorable

and, in what i believe is a bob shea first – mixed media:

it is about a brave and boastful shark, who is not afraid of giant squids, scary movies, the dark, bears, dinosaurs, or getting shots. in fact, the shark has only one fear. which can be deduced by his adorable questions here.

i feel silly adding a spoiler alert for a children’s picture book, but you always want to be cautious when sharks are involved. cautious and respectful.

this feels gauche, but when i announced i was starting a blog, everyone assured me this is a thing that is done. i’m not on facebook, i’ve never had a cellphone or listened to a podcast; so many common experiences of modern life are foreign to me, but i’m certainly struggling financially, so if this is how the world works now, i’d be foolish to pass it up. any support will be received with equal parts gratitude and bewilderment.
